Quality Assurance Specialist

The QA Specialist will support the QA team in executing comprehensive and detailed test plans. The QA Specialist will function as the point of contact for other team members to obtain knowledge of both existing core products and new product developments. The QA Specialist will stay abreast of current technologies and tools and will make recommendations to integrate them into the company when appropriate.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Create and execute test plans and test cases based on system requirements
  • Document, track and dispose of issues and defects via a formal tracking system
  • Maintain an understanding of software development environments and systems/software development life cycles processes
  • Review and verify requirements and design specifications
  • Perform other tasks as required

Minimum Requirements (Technical Skills):

  • 3 years of professional software testing experience, web application testing preferred
  • Knowledge of software quality practices and procedures
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycles
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and techniques
  • Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL)

Preferred Experience:

  • HP/Mercury Tools
  • Automated tools (such as Quick Test Professional)
  • .NET application testing
  • Web Services testing
  • Performance testing
  • Experience with software programming languages (such as Visual Basic, C++, C#)
  • Whitebox testing

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree - preferably in Computer Sciences desired.
  • Five years in a busy QA test environment is required.
  • Two plus years functioning as a QA team lead preferred.
  • Previous experience in insurance or financial services industry is desired. Life insurance experience preferred.
